our cycles
I imagine the cycle as a giant big ring of complicated magic that we constantly oscillate around. Like the paths of the planets in our galaxy. Yet if we use our cycles as tools of self mastery, the ring becomes more like a spiral, as each evolution is an expansion of ourselves, we constantly move outwards. Sometimes we go around and around in circles, until we learn what we need to learn, but we are always moving forward.
A cycle is a series of events that are regularly repeated in the same order. They are patterns. And there are patterns within patterns, which make it fractal in nature.
Fractals are self similar patterns, which means they are the same from near as from far – microcosm / macrocosm. They are exactly the same at every scale. It is a pattern repeating itself at all levels.
Why am I so interested in patterns, cycles and fractals? Because if you understand one part, you have they key to understanding the other and you can keep zooming out and zooming out, and poof! You get the meaning of life.
We live in a whole universe of cycles. Trillions and trillions of them.
From the tiny pulses of energy generated by an atom, to the rise and fall of enormous magnetic fields within the sun. From the constant rhythm of the ocean’s tides, to the thousands of miles travelled by a tiny hummingbird as it migrates to warmer climates every year, our world is a never-ending dance of natures repeating cycles. They’re part of everything.
Intuitively we know about cycles through direct experience – nature, the seasons, birth and death, growing food etc. A woman’s menstrual rhythm is governed by a 28 day cycle that is also linked to the cyclic phases of the moon. Each day our bodies follow the 24 hour circadian rhythm of light and dark. Two very important cycles that are most obvious to us as female humans.
When we look closer at natures cycles we find that each is part of a larger one that unfolds within an even larger one and so on. Nested cycles of time and energy that govern the rhythms of the universe and life.
Why wouldn’t our cycles be a layer within all of this? We are connected, and that is what fascinates me. We are a direct reflection of the universe itself! We are creators, our purpose is to create. We have the ability to use our awareness to create intentionally.
Everything for me leads back to creation and evolution. I found myself asking: ‘What is the ultimate source of creation?’ And I believe it is the womb.
The womb connects me back to the natural world. It is linked to something much, much bigger. It holds the universe inside of it, it is the gateway to the infinite!
In this work I go deeply into the flavour of each phase and how they fit into a larger picture, our lives. For ease, the cycle is split into 4 phases just like the seasons. If you resonate with one framework, go with it, listen to your own pull and wisdom. In no way am I saying these are the phases – and thats it – it’s just a framework that really works for me.
Below is an introduction to the 4 phases and where it all begins…
